Preview: Grizzlies vs. Rockets

The Houston Rockets are in the early stages of their post-Yao Ming era now that the former NBA All-Star from China has retired due to ongoing foot injuries. The Rockets have a new coach in Kevin McHale and are in the process of integrating a host of new faces to go with veterans like former Grizzly point guard Kyle Lowry, guard Kevin Martin, and forward Louis Scola. Point guard Goran Dragic was acquired in a trade last season with Phoenix, as was center Hasheem Thabeet, another former Grizzlies’ player.

Grizzlies face Thunder tonight in home opener

How fitting that the Grizzlies home opener at FedExForum begins with the same Oklahoma City Thunder team that it ended against last May. A 95-83 Grizzlies' win that day that forced a Game 7 in their Western Conference semifinals matchup against the Thunder. While Oklahoma City would go on to advance to the conference finals, their matchup against the Grizzlies was the start of the NBA's newest rivalry featuring two of the league's young, yet talented teams. This is the first of four meetings between the two clubs, who will play twice in the season's first 16 days.

500 tickets to be given away for Opening Night

Zach Randolph purchases tickets to be given away tomorrow, Dec. 27 in FedExForum Grand Lobby at 3 p.m. MEMPHIS, December 20, 2011— Memphis Grizzlies star Zach Randolph has added to the excitement of the start of the Grizzlies season by purchasing 500 tickets that will be handed out in the Grand Lobby of FedExForum starting at 3 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Grizzlies sign Dante Cunningham

MEMPHIS, December 24, 2011 – The Memphis Grizzlies signed forward Dante Cunningham after the Charlotte Bobcats declined to match Memphis’ offer sheet for the restricted free agent, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today.  Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
