Barry Manilow donates new Yamaha Piano once more to kick off New Music Instrument Drive for Shelby County Schools
Public can trade a new or gently used musical instrument for free tickets to Manilow’s Feb. 10 concert at FedExForum
Legendary singer-songwriter Barry Manilow hopes others will once again follow his philanthropic lead as he brings his Manilow Music Project to Shelby County Schools in Memphis. The pop icon plans to donate a Yamaha piano to launch the local music instrument drive. Anyone who donates a new or gently used musical instrument will receive two free tickets (valid for pre-selected seat locations on a first come first served basis) for Manilow’s show tomorrow at FedExForum.
The Manilow Music Project has conducted music instrument drives all over the country to assist local schools with their music programs. “I’m thrilled to once again bring the gift of music to these kids,” added Manilow.
“Shelby County Schools is very proud to provide music education for every elementary student in the District. Partnering with great musical artists such as Barry Manilow allows us to provide our Orff music teachers with the equipment they need to be effective,” said Wincle Sterling of Shelby County Schools. “The students and staff at Getwell Elementary are very appreciative to have received this piano as a gift from Mr. Manilow. We look forward to the musical achievements and performances to come at Getwell Elementary as a result of this generous gift.”
The FedExForum Box Office will serve as the base for the instrument drive effective immediately. The FedExForum Box Office is open from 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Tickets are still available to the “One Last Time!” Tour and start at just $19.75. Tickets can be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations, ticketmaster.com and the FedExForum Box Office by phone at (800) 745-3000.
